About Lyndhurst

Cocktail hour on the veranda

Carriage House Courtyard
When we were first thinking about the kind of wedding we'd like to have, Megan said to Jorge, "I want our wedding to feel like we're getting married at home....if we lived somewhere really cool." With its huge old gothic revival mansion house, 67 acres of fields, gardens, and woods, beautiful view of the Hudson river, cool old carriage house and stables, and soon-to-be renovated private wooden 2-lane bowling alley, Lyndhurst definitely fit the bill. There's even an apple orchard, and the estate makes its own honey from the bees kept on the property. Being the food geek she is, Megan was very excited about this.

For our wedding, we'll have the run of the estate for the evening. We plan to visit the grounds in the weeks before the event to take a stroll and pick the perfect spot for our ceremony from the rose garden, the conservatory, the main lawn, or down by the banks of the Hudson. Cocktail hour will be held on the veranda of the mansion, where we can watch the sun set over the river. Afterwards, we'll head down to the courtyard of the carriage houses for dinner and dancing. Since much of the wedding will be held outdoors, we'd suggest bringing an extra layer for after sundown.

The mansion will be open for exploring and tours during the cocktail hour, and you're welcome to come visit earlier in the day or that weekend for a full tour if you're interested. Just let us know, and we'll arrange it for you!
